All About Adult Colouring

Updated: Oct 22, 2018

Today's blog is gonna be about one of my hobbies, adult coloring. Lol, It's simply colouring, but for grown ups.

It's basically colour therapy, because it's supposed to calm and relax you because your mind goes into a meditative space when you colour. Your anxiety levels lower. Out goes the negativity and in goes the positivity.

Adult colouring books come in all shapes, sizes, themes and some even come with instructions ( like colouring by number) . Some are themed with animals, locations, even various types of religion and spirituality. Or, if you're less of a religious individual and enjoy more crude material and that's your vibe, there's even an adult coloring book with nothing but swearwords in word art.

The drawings for adult coloring books tend to have smaller spaces than a typical children's colouring book. But of course if you don't like that you can just have a colouring book with bigger lines.

For more serious colourists, there are colouring books at different paper weights and to handle different colouring materials like alcohol markers, and one sided artwork to prevent ghosting on uncoloured artwork. (Especially good if you murder your paper while colouring)

As for colouring materials, it really doesn't matter what you colour with but of course the most popular item is pencil crayons. Some people use wax crayons, oil pastels, alcohol or water based markers, felt tip pens and markers and even gel pens.

If you're simple, 6 colours is just enough to start colouring, but if you're like me.. you need the entire 64 pack.

Honestly, starting with colouring is simple, just go out and get some pencil crayons and a book and start. Or if you want something easier and less expensive because you aren't sure you would stick with it, there are tonnes of free printables online and you could borrow some pencil crayons. Once you start colouring for yourself you will see how relaxed it makes you. It really is a break from life and stressful things like studying or even social media!

Here ends my blog today!!!

My quote of the blog is colour themed of course “Colour is a power that directly influences the soul" - Wassily Kandinsky
